The Bharath Sports Union Grounds in Malleshwaram, Bangalore, played host to the first-ever 3-on-3 basketball tournament - 'Tremendous Trio', on May 7-8, 2011. The tournament was held for basketball players from several different clubs, colleges, schools, and corporates from around Bangalore, and competitions were held in Senior Men, Senior Women, U16 Boys, and U16 Girls categories.
The competition was held under flood lights at the ground in Malleshwaram, and saw an overwhelming response, as around 120 teams and 420 players took part in the two-day event. Each team was allowed three starters plus an option of a fourth substitute player. The finals of the four categories of the tournament was played from 5 PM onwards on Sunday, May 8th. The winning teams were 'Cheers' (Senior Men), 'Bleed Blue' (Senior Women), 'Vivek's Cottons' (U16 Boys), and 'Power Puff' (U16 Girls).
Final Results
A cash prize was given to all the finalists and Former Indian Captain and Vice President of Karnataka State Basketball Association (KSBA), Shri. R. Rajan and Sri. J.E. Mohan , Jt. Secretary, KSBA were at the occasion as chief guests for the final event.
