Original Brand: Nigger Head Oysters
Jet Magazine reported on 18 August 1955 in an article entitled, "Name change of the week." Under repeated pressure brought by the NAACP, the Aughinbaugh Canning Company of Biloxi, Mississippi, changed the name of its oysters. The old name: "Nigger Head Brand." The new name : "Negro Head Brand."
